Thirteen companies complete Digital Transformation training in Nicosia

Thirteen tourism companies completed the two-day Digital Transformation using Project Management Techniques course held in Nicosia on 5-6 February 2020.

The training was co-organised by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Human Resources Development Authority of Cyprus. The training was delivered by Philip Ammerman of Navigator Consulting.

The objective of the digital transformation programme was to support the competitiveness of Cyprus SMEs by capitalising on digital technology and tactics:

1. The importance of physical space and physical delivery or sales systems becomes less important as consumers and supplier interact online. A good supplier no longer needs to invest in a branch network to the same extent this was needed in the past.

2. New market segments in Cyprus and internationally can be opened. This approach is critical for numerous businesses in key segments in Cyprus ranging from tourism and professional services (lawyers and accountants involved in international company formation and management) to forex firms, engineers and architects and other professions.

3. A greater number of communications channels can be employed. The rise of smartphones and the growth of mobile browsing is changing how consumers search for and purchase goods and services.

4. A greater suitability for specific consumer segments, such as B2B professionals who have limited time available, or millennials (consumers who are 35 years old or younger, and are considered digital natives).

A key aspect of the training included waterfall and agile project management techniques. Other content included:

  • Developing digital strategies and transformation roadmaps

  • Using team and project management software such as Asana

  • Developing project management teams

  • Assessing customers and prioritising digital projects.

The companies included a cross-section of start-ups and firms from Cyprus, including:

  • Retailers

  • Importers and distributors

  • IT companies

  • Shipping companies

  • Construction and Land Development firms

The 2-day training is now being followed by consultancy visit to each company.
