Mr. Georgios Kasselakis has agreed to speak at the Athens Investment Summit, on the subject of venture capital in Greece.

Mr. Kasselakis is Partner and co-founder of Openfund, Greece's most active seed venture capital fund for the technology sector.  He co-founded Openfund in 2009 and deals with technology due diligence and business development of its portfolio companies.

Through the Joint European Resources for Micro to Medium Enterprises initiative (JEREMIE), Openfund supports the early stage funding and growth of innovative mobile and web companies starting from Greece and addressing international markets.

Next to JEREMIE Openfund II, the firm offers a broad network providing entrepreneurs with access to a range of regional and international sources of capital, including both institutional and private investors. Openfund also acts as a business consultancy and supports new businesses in developing partnerships and investor relations. Its portfolio of start-ups includes names as Taxibeat, Workable, Incrediblue and Pockee, some of Greece’s most successful and fastest-growing ICT businesses.

Before Openfund, he has held various technology-related positions, ranging from computer services to software development. As a student, he founded his first start-up dealing with data feed transformation during his Bachelor thesis. At the same time, he adopted and organised Open Coffee meetings in Thessaloniki, forming a common ground for the entrepreneurial and technology communities in Greece’s second largest city.

Mr. Kasselakis holds a BSc in Computer Science from Aristotle University Thessaloniki.

At the Athens Investment Summit, he is going to speak about the evolution and direction of the Greek ICT start-up scene and the role of venture capital funding, highlighting evaluation criteria for international and domestic investors interested in investing in Greek tech start-ups.
