ART.Cy will organise its first professional training programme for the arts and culture sector on Thursday, 15 October 2026, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Limassol. This focusses on how artists, galleries, museums and other cultural institutions develop a strategic approach towards digital marketing and promotion. This one-day seminar provides a foundational approach to the core concepts of digital marketing while providing an introduction to digital tools and case studies that can be used by the training participants.

The Training Need

Digital platforms give artists and cultural organisations unprecedented opportunities to reach audiences locally and internationally. However, maintaining a website or posting occasionally on social media does not constitute a digital marketing strategy.

Artists, galleries and museums benefit from a careful analysis and defining of their audiences, which is then used to communicate a clear identity, publish consistently and guide people towards meaningful actions, whether attending an exhibition, making an enquiry or purchasing work.

Training Agenda

1. The Foundations and Strategy of Digital Marketing

Participants will examine target audiences, value propositions, communication priorities and the relationship between artistic identity and market positioning.

Case Study: Yayoi Kusama and the creation of a distinctive, internationally recognised artistic identity.

2. Designing your Website to Convert

This session will explain how to move beyond the conventional “digital brochure” and create a website that encourages visitors to attend, enquire, subscribe or purchase.

Case Study: The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the structure of a major cultural website.

3. Getting Found Online

Participants will learn the foundations of search engine optimisation and how well-structured, authoritative content can improve visibility through both conventional search engines and emerging artificial intelligence systems.

Case Study: The Amsterdam Rijksmuseum and the digital discoverability of collections and cultural content.

4. Developing and Posting Content

This session will address storytelling, editorial planning, platform selection and the effective use of articles, news, images and video.

Case Study: Unit London and the use of digital content to present artists, exhibitions and contemporary art.

5. Using Email Marketing

Participants will learn how to develop targeted newsletters and email campaigns for exhibition invitations, announcements and continued engagement with collectors and audiences.

Practical workshop: Creating and distributing email newsletters using Mailchimp.

6. Advertising Online

The final working session will introduce paid advertising through Facebook, Instagram and Google, including campaign design, audience targeting, budget allocation and performance evaluation.

Practical workshop: Using Meta to develop advertising campaigns for Facebook and Instagram.

Practical Outcomes

Participants will receive practical templates and frameworks, including a digital marketing action plan, a 30-day content calendar, a website improvement checklist, a basic SEO plan and roadmaps for newsletters, social media and digital advertising. No previous technical or digital marketing experience is required.
