A total of 12 Cypriot tourism companies completed the CCCI / Navigator training course on Online Marketing in the Cyprus Tourism Sector in Paphos on Tuesday and Wednesday, 3-4 March 2015.
The 2-day training was organised by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the active and decisive support of the Paphos Chamber and financed by the Human Resources Development Authority of Cyprus.
Delivered by Philip Ammerman, the online training course focused on how hotels, travel agents, tour operators, spas, golf courses, villa rental firms and other tourism enterprises can use online marketing to promote their services. Key topics included:
Aligning online marketing strategy with corporate strategy and key performance metrics
Strategic selling, online sales funnel approaches, calls-to-action and conversion methods
Developing websites and website ecosystems that perform well in terms of search engine ranking
Keyword analytics and on-page SEO techniques for higher page ranking
Social media optimisation, including using Facebook, Google+, Google Maps, LinkedIn, and other platforms
Using free analytics tools, including Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools, to improve website performance
Using newsletters for client communications
Developing high quality content, including articles, photos and other applications.
The training is followed by full-day consultancy visits to each participating firm. The enterprises which participated include some of the most interesting hotels, spas, venues, golf courses and tour groups in Cyprus, and include:
Z&X Group / Ayii Anargyri Spa and Resort: One of the few health and wellness spas in Cyprus featuring natural, sulphur-rich spring water. The spa and hotel were built in 2009 around the Ayii Anargyri Church, which was built in 1649 at the site where Saints Cosmas and Damianos operated a healing centre.
Agrotis Travel: A leading inbound and outbound travel agency in Paphos, Cyprus, specialising in custom- journeys and special interest tourism. Roulla Agrotis has been a representative of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents and a key person in the development of Paphos’ travel sector.
Thanos Hotels Group: Thanos Hotels operates three of the most beautiful hotels in Cyprus: the Almyra, the Annabelle and the Anassa. Each property is based on the seafront and offers a unique guest experience.
Leptos / Calypso Hotels: This is one of the largest hotel chains in Cyprus, listed on the Cyprus Stock Exchange. Leptos / Calypso owns the Coral Beach Hotel and Resort; the Sentido Thalassa Coral Bay; the Paphos Gardens Holiday Resort; and the Basilica Holiday Resort in Cyprus, together with the Panorama Hotel in Chania, Crete.
Pafilia Estates: Pafilia has developed the Minthis Hills Golf Resort in Paphos, and is in the process of expanding the Minthis Hills project, which features 2- and 3-bedroom properties with full access to the golf resort and spa.
The Akamanthea Resort near Polis Chrysochous, Paphos. Akamanthea was developed by the Katsouris family, and features modern apartments set amidst manicured gardens near the Mediterranean Sea at Latsi.
The Anemi Hotel in Paphos, Cyprus. The Anemi offers 25 studios and 65 one-bedroom contemporary apartments located in downtown Paphos very near the harbor.
The Avanti Hotel and Holiday Village in Paphos. The Avanti Hotel is set on 40,000 square meters of gardens and offers 243 rooms. The Avanti Holiday Village is located adjacent to the Hotel on 94,000 square meters of land, and offers 244 one-bedroom apartments.

The Mayfair Hotel in Paphos was recently taken over on a management basis by SmartLine Hotels. The Mayfair offers newly-renovated studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments located in Kato Paphos near the harbour.
