In November 2018, Navigator completed a Digital Project Management and Enterprise Transformation training and consultancy programme for small enterprises in Cyprus.

Digital transformation is affecting consumers, suppliers and governments all over the world. Today, citizens, consumers and visitors to Cyprus expect digital interaction, whether ordering a taxi, researching a hotel, or paying utility bills online. This process of digital transformation has major benefits for consumers and suppliers of goods and services:

  • The importance of physical space and physical delivery or sales systems becomes less important as consumers and supplier interact online.

  • New market segments in Cyprus and internationally can be opened.

  • A greater number of communications channels can be employed. The rise of smartphones and the growth of mobile browsing is changing how consumers search for and purchase goods and services.

  • A greater suitability for specific consumer segments, such as B2B professionals who have limited time available, or millennials: consumers who are 35 years old or younger, and are considered digital natives.

Yet small companies face extensive challenges in migrated to a digital environment. These include a lack of managerial capability; a lack of qualified subcontractors; and limited resources.

To address this challenge, Navigator Consulting and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a blended learning programme on Digital Transformation. This included 2 days of classroom training followed by full-day consultancy visits to each participating company.

The Digital Transformation training programme was held on 14-15 November 2018 in Nicosia, Cyprus and was attended by 13 companies representing a cross-section of the Cypriot economy, including:

  • Hotels

  • Retailers

  • Shipping firms

  • Importers and distributors

  • Software developers

  • Electrical engineering and power solutions

  • Insurance firms

  • A leading business incubator

Training topics covered included:

  • Digital Transformation for Small Enterprises

  • Customer demographics

  • Leadership of digital transformation across organisational silos and barriers

  • Enterprise, unit and individual accountability and responsibility

  • Project management frameworks, including PMI, Waterfall and Agile

  • Analysis and mapping of business logic and commercial processes

  • Online customer care

  • Search engine optimisation (SEO)

  • Alpha and beta testing: best practise

  • Working with external web designers and software firms

  • Structuring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and related documents

  • Developing digital strategies and transformation roadmaps

  • Using team and project management software such as Asana or Bitrix

  • Developing project management teams

  • Assessing customers and prioritising digital projects.

The in-company consultations applied the knowledge gained during the classroom training to specific company projects and issues. This included deployment of project management software or platforms; concentration on key areas of online marketing and online customer relationship management (CRM); development of digital transformation strategies; and related work.
