Consultants

Our main resource is our consultants and intellectual property. Implicit in its value proposition is that employees who consistently demonstrate successful performance and behaviour have the potential to become co-owners of the firm.

In our view, a consultant is developed, not born. Consulting skills cannot be studied or purchased through certificates: they are earned through long hours, adversity and hard experience. To be effective, a consultant must exhibit successful performance in a range of situations and projects. In addition to functional skills (e.g. marketing analysis, financial modelling), a consultant must gain an in-depth understanding of how the basic unit of value creation – the enterprise – works in theory and in practise. S/he must learn how to work with clients, both decision-makers and staff. S/he must develop that peculiar mix of objectivity, ethics, insight, communications skills and knowledge which enables consistent, successful performance.

Our approach to consultant development and advancement reflects this approach. We are not interested in brilliant degrees or high-level contacts, though these of course are useful. We are looking for bright individuals who retain their innate curiosity and optimism about the world and are willing to plunge again and again into unknown situations. In our environment, character counts for more than academic degrees; project experience counts for more than job titles. Our projects are multi-faceted and complex: set solutions rarely apply.
