Start-up Valuation and Term Sheet Negotiation at the University of Cyprus

On Wednesday, 18 September, Philip Ammerman, presented on “Start-up Valuation and Term Sheet Negotiation” at the University of Cyprus. Philip Ammerman is acting as Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Cyprus’ Centre for Entrepreneurship.

The “Entrepreneurs in Residence” (EIR) programme aspires to bring eminent entrepreneurs and innovators who work in domains with a strong innovation potential to the University of Cyprus. The aim of the programme is to provide students, researchers, faculty, and staff access to mentorship, experience, connections, and networking opportunities that will help them pursue entrepreneurial endeavours.

The lecture focused on different ways a founder team can value their startup prior to revenue and money. As well as valuation methods, the presentation covered term sheets and methods of  managing the long-term relationship, governance and equity distribution between founders, staff, and investors in multiple funding rounds.

In addition to the lecture, Philip Ammerman and Orestis Votsis held one-to-one meetings with eight start-ups and advised them on any issues relating to their ideas and current status.

Philip has advised on over € 6 billion in investment projects, including several in the tech sector. He is responsible for the Navigator Entrepreneurship Charter, a commitment to invest in or support one start-up or entrepreneur per year from 2010 – 2020.
